[decapentaplegic-Vg-related] The DVR gene family comprises a family of secreted proteins related to TGF-beta (see also: gene family). It consists of at least 15 members, including dpp (decapentaplegic) from Drosophila melanogaster, Vg-1 (vegetalising factor-1) from Xenopus laevis, and the mammalian bone morphogenetic proteins genes (see: BMP).
