DPPA4

(approved gene symbol) [Developmental pluripotency-associated protein 4] The gene has been described independently as ECAT15-1 [embryonic stem cell-associated transcript 15-1; ES cell-associated transcript 15-1], identified originally as one of the genes enriched in mouse embryonic stem cells by in silico differential display screening (Mitsui et al, 2003). Ramalho-Santos et al (2002) have identified DPPA4 as transcript specific for embryonic stem cells and associated with stemness. Ivanova et al (2006) have identified DPPA4 in an RNA interference-based functional genomics screen for genes potentially controlling self-renewal in embryonic stem cells.
