[Delta/notch-like EGF-related receptor] This protein is expressed during the development of cerebellar granule cells in the mouse. The protein is expressed in various types of neurons (pyramidal cells, granule cells, Purkinje cells), which do not seem to express the protein in their axons (Eiraku et al, 2002). The human and mouse proteins contain 10 EGF-like repeats and both proteins share 90 % identity.
Eiraku et al (2005) have identified DNER expressed in Purkinje cells as a ligand of Notch-1 expressed by Bergmann glia in the mouse cerebellum. Deficiency of DNER inhibits morphological
