(approved gene symbol) [death effector domain-containing DNA-binding protein] This protein of 37 kDa (318 amino acids) contains an N-terminal death effector domain (Stegh et al, 1998). It has been identified independently as DEFT (Leo et al, 1998) and is found in databanks as FLDED-1. In some databanks the designations CASP8IP1 [Caspase-8 interacting protein 1] and DEDPRO1 are used synonymously.
DEDD is highly conserved between human, rat, and mouse (98 % identity). An alternative designation for this protein is TNFSF19 [TNF ligand superfamily member 19].
