[Doublecortin-like and CAM kinase-like 1; doublecortin and calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase-like-1] The gene encoding this protein has been cloned by Sossey-Alaoui and Srivastava 1999). The protein has various splice isoforms and is expressed in many different brain regions (Vreugdenhil et al, 2001; Omori et al, 1998; Sossey-Alaoui and Srivastava, 1999) and particularly in fetal brain (Matsumoto et al, 1999; Burgess et al, 1999). The approved gene symbol is DCLK1 [doublecortin-like kinase 1]. The cDNA has been identified independently as KIAA0369. In databanks it is being referred to also as DCDC3A [Doublecortin domain-containing protein 3A
