Cytokine gene transfer

Cytokines are important modulators of host antitumor responses. Antitumor cytokine therapies are currently limited by important systemic and often life-threatening toxicities. With the availability of cloned cytokine genes and Recombinant cytokines and a better, albeit still limited, understanding of tumor/host interactions the tools and concepts of gene therapy are now being applied to the development of effective new cancer treatments.
