CLTI with the sequence CGLIIQKNEC is a cyclic decapeptide identified by screening of a phage library for peptides that bind to clotted plasma in the presence of liquid plasma. The peptide has been shown to accumulate in tumor stroma and wounds at the sites of injury in arteries, skeletal muscle, and skin. The peptide does not home to tumors grown in fibrinogen null mice or in mice that lack plasma fibronectin (Pilch et al, 2006).
CLT1 acts as an anticancer peptide that forms cytotoxic complexes with fibronectin that are cooperatively internalized into proliferating endothelium
