[CD40(+), CD40(-), CD40(high), CD40(low), CD40(int)]
CD40 is the approved gene symbol. Owing to its homology to other members of the TNF receptor superfamily the designation TNFRSF5 [TNF receptor superfamily member 5] is used also. TNFR5, found in some publications, is a corrupted form of TNFRSF5 [TNF receptor superfamily member 5] and is used synonymously in some publications.
A previous designation is CDw40. This cell surface antigen is called also Bp50
