CARP encodes a protein of 445 amino acids (49.7 kDa) that, according to the authors, contains a CARD domain (Liu et al, 2002). However, no CARD domain is detected by any prediction tool. The approved gene symbol is FAM188A [family with sequence similarity 188 member A]. In databanks the protein is being referred to also as C10ORF97 [chromosome 10 open reading frame 97] and DERP5 [Dermal papilla-derived protein 5].
