(-1-) These cells are found in pancreatic islets of Langerhans. The cells are being referred to also as Pancreatic B-cells. Beta-cells and pancreatic A-cells are derived from an islet progenitor cell and follow independent lineage pathways rather than arising from a common mutihormonal progenitor cell (Docherty, 2001).
