Argininosuccinate synthetase, called also Citrulline-aspartate ligase (EC6.3.4.5), is involved in the conversion of citrulline and aspartate to argininosuccinate (Husson et al, 2003; Haines et al, 2011). The enzyme catalyzes the rate-limiting step in the biosynthesis of arginine, which plays a role in the synthesis of urea, nitric oxide, polyamines, proline, glutamate, creatine and agmatine (Morris, 2006).
