This protein is related to angiopoietin-1. It is identical with ARP-1 [angiopoietin-related protein-1] (Dhanabal et al, 2002), which is another name for angiopoietin-3 and which is the same as ANGPTL1 (Angiopoietin-like-1).
Transcripts for ANGPTL1 have been found to be down-regulated in lung, prostate, kidney, thyroid, and urinary bladder cancers (Dhanabal et al, 2002). Angioarrestin has been shown to inhibit proliferation induced by VEGF or bFGF of vascular endothelial cells derived from different vessel types.
