Alloferons are slightly cationic peptides isolated from the blood of an experimentally infected insect, the blow fly Calliphora vicina (Diptera). Alloferon-1 (HGVSGHGQHGVHG; His-Gly-Val-Ser-Gly-His-Gly-Gln-His-Gly-Val-His-Gly) and Alloferon-2 (GVSGHGQHGVHG; Gly-Val-Ser-Gly-His-Gly-Gln-His-Gly-Val-His-Gly) stimulate NK-cell activities and induce interferon production in mice. The peptides also have antiviral and antitumoral activities (Chernysh et al, 2002).
Ryu et al (2008) have reported that alloferon-1 potentiates
