SARS-Coronavirus accessory protein 3a |

Alarin (25 amino acids), so named because it has an N-terminal alanine and a C-terminal serine, is a splice variant of the hypothalamic neuropeptide galanin-like peptide (GALP). It contains the first 5 amino acids of galanin-like peptide, followed by 20 unique amino acids that do not not show any homology to other proteins. Mouse Alarin (APAHRSSPFPPRPTRAGRETQLLRS; Ala-Pro-Ala-His-Arg-Ser-Ser-Pro-Phe-Pro-Pro-Arg-Pro-Thr-Arg-Ala-Gly-Arg-Glu-Thr-Gln-Leu-Leu-Arg-Ser:) and human Alarin (APAHRSSPFPKWVTKTERGRQPLRS; Ala-Pro-Ala-His-Arg-Ser-Ser-Pro-Phe-Pro-Lys-Trp-Val-Thr-Lys-Thr-Glu-Arg-Gly-Arg-Gln-Pro-Leu-Arg-Ser
