AcSDKP is a tetrapeptide (N-acetyl-seryl-aspartyl-lysyl-proline, acetyl-N-Ser-Asp-Lys-Pro) isolated originally from fetal calf bone marrow (Lenfant et al, 1989. It is produced constitutively by long-term BMC (bone marrow culture) (Grillon et al, 1993.
The synthetic peptide is marketed under the names Seraspenide or Goralatide. Thierry et al (2001) have synthesised a set of AcSDKP analogues by substituting or modifying the N- or C-terminus, or substituting side chains. Most of these analogues are nontoxic and retain the antiproliferative activity.
AcSDKP can be generated from thymosin-beta-4, one of the thymic hormones
