ARD1

[arrest defective 1] This is a Drosophila melanogaster gene (gene: CG11989) encoding the catalytic subunit of the major N-terminal acetyltransferase complex (NatA). The protein is involved in cell fate specification (Whiteway and Szostak, 1985).

ARD1 has been identified independently as vnc [variable nurse cells]. Mutations in the vnc gene result in female sterility and oogenesis defects, including egg chambers with too many or too few nurse cells. Reduced ARD1 levels result in pleiotropic oogenesis defects including abnormal cyst encapsulation, desynchronized cystocyte division, disrupted nurse cell ... ... ... ... ...
