This peptide (AGHLDDLPGALSAL; Ala-Gly-His-Leu-Asp-Asp-Leu-Pro-Gly-Ala-Leu-Ser-Ala-Leu) is derived from mouse hemoglobin-alpha (Ribeiro et al, 2013). The fragment binds specifically to an inactive thimet oligopeptidase in a substrate capture assay. The mouse AGH amino acid sequence is 86 % identical (12/14) (AGSHLDDLPGALSTL; Ala-Gly-Ser-His-Leu-Asp-Asp-Leu-Pro-Gly-Ala-Leu-Ser-Thr-Leu) to that of rat and shows 64 % of identity (9/14) with the human sequence (VAHVDDMPNALSAL; Val-Ala-His-Val-Asp-Asp-Met-Pro-Asn-Ala-Leu-Ser-Ala-Leu).
