This peptide (AGHLDDLPGALSAL) is derived from mouse hemoglobin-alpha (Ribeiro et al, 2013). The fragment binds specifically to an inactive thimet oligopeptidase in a substrate capture assay. The mouse AGH amino acid sequence is 86 % identical (12/14) (AGSHLDDLPGALSTL) to that of rat and shows 64 % of identity (9/14) with the human sequence (VAHVDDMPNALSAL). The peptide lacks the key sequence of hemorphins (YPWT). The authors therefore suggest that AGH may be an endogenous bioactive peptide. Pharmacological assays suggest that mouse Rat
