pEEDCK
This pentapeptide with the sequence PyroGlu-Glu-Asp-Cys-Lys is called also Hemoregulatory peptide (abbr. HP or HP5). It was identified initially in extracts of rodent bone marrow and human leukocytes. At present it is not known whether pEEDCK is the cleavage product of a larger precursor. The sequence of pEEDCK has been shown to be present in Gi-alpha proteins.
pEEDCK shows some activities of cytokines although it is not classified as such due to its small size (see also: regulatory peptide factors).
This peptide is a negative regulator of Hematopoiesis, inhibiting the formation of CFU-GM colonies in vitro (see also:
