abbr. Cp. Ceruloplasmin (spelled also caeruloplasmin) is known also as ferroxidase, Fe(II) - oxygen oxidoreductase, iron (II) - oxygen oxidoreductase, or EC1.16.3.1. The protein has been identified in membrane-bound form as Ran-2 antigen and has been identified independently also as PACAP(1-38) binding factor.
Ceruloplasmin (Noyer et al, 1980) is a plasma metalloprotein of 132 kDa (Takahashi et al, 1984) that binds 90 to 95 % of plasma copper and is involved in the peroxidation of Fe(II) transferrin to form Fe(III) transferrin. Apoceruloplasmin
