[zinc finger protein 163] This zinc finger protein shares 87 % identity at the amino acid level with the Drosophila melanogaster gene sens (senseless) (Nolo et al, 2000). Senseless, encoded by gene CG32120, is a protein required for the proper development of most cell types within the embryonic and adult preripheral nervous system in Drosophila melanogaster. Senseless is allelic with Lyra, and mutations cause recessive pupal lethality and causes a dominant loss of the anterior and posterior wing margins in adult heterozygous flies.
