Wnt-8
[Wnt family member 8; wingless-type MMTV integration site family member 8] Wnt-8 is one member of the so-called Wnt family of proteins (Nusse et al, 1991). Momoi et al (2003) have identified frizzled-8c and frizzled-9 as receptors for Wnt-8.
This term is used for for Drosophila melanogaster wntD [wnt inhibitor of dorsal] gene (CG8458), which is the closest homolog of vertebrate Wnt-8 proteins (Wnt-8a, Wnt-8b) (Girdib et al, 2005; Ganguly et al, 2005).
