Vasculotropin

abbr. VAS. This factor was isolated initially as an angiogenic protein (see also: Angiogenesis) mitogenic for endothelial cells (Favard et al, 1991; Plouet et al, 1989). It is identical with VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), and thus, the abbreviation VAS/VEGF is used also.
