Urumin

this peptide with the sequence IPLRGAFINGRWDSQCCHRFSNGAIACA has been isolated from the skin of the South Indian frog Hydrophylax bahuvistara. The peptide is virucidal for H1 hemagglutinin-bearing human influenza A viruses. It destroys influenza virions and specifically targets the conserved stalk region of H1 hemagglutinin. The peptide is effective against drug-resistant H1 influenza viruses. Urumin protects naive mice from lethal influenza infection (Holthausen et al, 2017).
