[Cytomegalovirus UL7 protein] This gene is encoded by an open reading frame within the genome of human cytomegalovirus (Dolan et al, 2004). The sequence of UL7 is highly conserved across different CMV genotypes (Sekulin et al, 2007). UL7 is a heavily glycosylated transmembrane protein with an Ig-like domain that exhibits remarkable amino acid similarity to CD229, a cell surface molecule involved in leukocyte activation.
