This transmembrane receptor from Drosophila melanogaster has been identified by Tauszig et al (2000). The receptor is related to Toll and 18-wheeler. It is encoded by gene CG7250 and is known also as 18w-like [18-wheeler-like]. The receptor is expressed at high levels during embryogenesis and molting, suggesting that it performs developmental functions. Yagi et al (2010) have reported that knock-out flies lacking expression of Toll-6 are viable, fertile, and have no detectable defect in the inducible expression of antimicrobial peptide genes.
