[tumorous imaginal discs 1] The TID1 gene (Schilling et al, 1998; Yin et al, 2001) is the human homolog of the Drosophila melanogaster tumor suppressor lethal(2) tumorous imaginal discs (abbr. l(2)tid; gene: CG5504) which encodes a protein named TID56. Mutations in the Drosophila melanogaster tumor suppressor lethal(2) tumorous imaginal discs cause malignant transformation of the imaginal discs and the death of the mutant larvae at the time of puparium formation.
