[Salmonella invasion protein B] This secreted protein is produced by the facultative intracellular pathogen Salmonella typhimurium. SipB is a so-called translocator protein that cooperates with two other proteins called SipC [Salmonella invasion protein C] and SipD [Salmonella invasion protein D]. All three proteins are required to form an injectisome, functional pores during Salmonella infection of erythrocytes (Miki et al, 2004) and are required also for the association of Salmonella with mammalian cells
