This peptide (HNKQEGRDHDKSKGHFHRVVIHHKGGKAH) is derived by proteolytic cleavage of Semenogelin-1, one of the most abundant proteins in human seminal plasma that plays a key role in sperm coagulation and spermatozoon immobilization. SgI-29 corresponds to Semenogelin-1 (85-113). The peptide possesses strong antibacterial activity towards various bacterial strains (Zhao et al, 2008).
