Senegalin is a hexadecapeptide amide (FLPFLIPALTSLISSLamide) found in the skin secretion of the African running frog, Kassina senegalensis. Senegalin possesses antimicrobial and myotropic activities. Senegalin is active against Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans and is not hemolytic. Senegalin induces a dose-dependent contraction of rat urinary bladder smooth muscle and a dose-dependent relaxation of rat tail artery smooth muscle.
