RHAU
[RNA helicase associated with AU-rich element ARE] This helicase is the same as DHX36 [DEAH box protein 36].
RHAU is an RNA helicase associated with AU-rich elements found in the 3' untranslated region of unstable mRNAs that facilitate the rapid degradation of such mRNAs (Tran et al, 2004). Chalupníková et al (2008) have reported that RHAU localizes to cytoplasmic stress granules, which contain the majority of actively translated mRNAs released from polysomes under conditions of environmental stress.
Iwamoto et al (2008) have reported that RHAU localizes also to the nucleus and is involved in transcription-related RNA metabolism in the nucleus.
