This hexapeptide (SSLSKL, Ser-Ser-Leu-Ser-Lys-Leu) from the Mexican frog Pachymedusa dacnicolor promotes the migration of leukocytes through the binding and activation of the human and mouse FPR2 [formyl peptide receptor-2] in vitro. In vivo, it exhibits opposite biological activities: under homeostatic conditions, pachymodulin induces the recruitment of leukocytes, whereas under conditions of inflammation, it inhibits this process (Lacombe et al, 2015).
