[neuronal development-associated protein]. In sequence data banks the protein is known as Ndap7 [Neuronal development-associated protein 7]. NDAP is identical with PigT [Phosphatidylinositol-glycan biosynthesis class T protein] (GPI transamidase component PIG-T), a component of the GPI transamidase complex that is essential for transfer of glycosylphosphatidylinositol to proteins, particularly in formation of the carbonyl intermediates (Ohishi K et al, 2001).
NDAP has been identified by Li et al (2006). The gene is expressed in most tissues including the brain. Its expression increases transiently in primary cultures of 2-4 day neurons and 1-2 week astrocytes
