Locustatachykinins

Locustatachykinin I (GPSGFYGVRamide) and locustatachykinin II (APLSGFYGVRamide) are two myotropic peptides isolated from brain-corpora cardiaca-corpora allata-suboesophageal ganglion extracts of the locust, Locusta migratoria (Schoofs et al, 1990). Both peptides show sequence homology with fish and amphibian tachykinins (up to 45 %) and less homology with mammalian tachykinins. The intestinal myotropic activity of locustatachykinins is analogous to that of vertebrate tachykinins.
