[lymphocyte transformation inhibition factor] This biochemically uncharacterized activity has been detected in the serum and plasma of patients with active multiple sclerosis and patients with some lymphoproliferative disorders (Wernicke et al, 1983). Partial purification separates LTIF from serum immunoglobulins, but this leads to an accelerated loss of biological activity. LTIF inhibits blast transformation in mitogen-stimulated T-lymphocytes.
