LEPROT

(approved gene symbol) [leptin receptor overlapping transcript] This protein has been described independently as OBRGRP [Ob receptor gene related protein; leptin receptor-gene related protein] (Bailleul et al, 1997). The protein is expressed by using the same promoter as the leptin receptor, but uses a different reading frame. The first 2 exons of LEPROT are shared with the leptin receptor, and exons 3 and 4 lie within intron 2 of the leptin receptor.

LEPROT has been shown to be associated with the Golgi complex and endosomes and modulates the cell surface expression of the growth hormone receptor and leptin receptor ( ... ... ... ...
