IL1-beta(163-171)
This synthetic nonapeptide fragment of IL1-beta comprises amino acids 163/171 and corresponds to the sequence VQGEESNDK. This peptide possesses only some of the IL1-beta activities, i.e. those directed to the immune system, while being devoid of IL1-like inflammatory effects (Tagliabue A et al, 1989).
The peptide has been shown to possess potent adjuvant activity, potently enhancing primary and secondary responses of mice immunized with sheep red blood cells (Nencioni et al (1987).
Gokulan K and Rao DN (1997) have shown that IL1-beta(163-171) modulates the immune response to synthetic peptides
