[innate defense regulator peptide HH2] abbr. often just HH2. This synthetic cationic peptide, VQLRIRVAVIRAamide, is an innate immune defense regulator superior, compared to IDR-1, in inducing chemokines in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. IDR-HH2 also shows promise as a component of vaccine adjuvants for single-dose vaccines (Kindrachuk et al, 2009; Cao et al, 2010, 2011, Yang et al, 2012). Li et al (2014) have used the peptide as part of a combination adjuvant (alum, Escherichia coli polysaccharide) together with a vaccine against the NY-ESO-1 antigen. This complex significantly promotes antigen uptake, maturation and cross-presentation of dendritic cells
