This peptide with the sequence GIMSSLMKKLAAHIAKamide has been identified in the venom of the solitary bee Hylaeus signatus (Hymenoptera: Colletidae) (Nešuta O et al, 2016). HYL shows weak antimicrobial activity against several strains of pathogenic bacteria and moderate activity against Candida albicans. Its hemolytic activity against human red blood cells is low. The peptide synergizes with antibiotics, rifampicin in particular.
