Hexastatins

Hexastatins are bioactive fragments (see also: cryptides) derived from the COL4A6 gene (collagen-4-alpha-6 chain). They have been shown to inhibit the proliferation and migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells in vitro and are therefore thought to possess anti-angiogenic properties in vivo (Karagiannis and Popel, 2008).

Hexastatin-1 [ATPFIECSGARGTCHYFAN] corresponds to residues 1629-1647 of the COL4A6 gene COL4A6(1629-1647) [collagen-4-alpha-6(1629-1647)].

Hexastatin-2 [YCNINEVCHYARRNDKSYWL] corresponds to residues 1526-1545 of the COL4A6 gene ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
