[hematopoietic SH2 protein] This protein has been identified independently as ALX [adaptor in lymphocytes of unknown function X] (Greene et al, 2003). The approved gene symbol is HSH2D [hematopoietic SH2 domain containing].
This human gene encoding this protein of 352 amino acids (47 kDa) has been identified by Oda et al (2001) in a search for protein sequences that are similar to the SH2 domain of abl oncogene. The protein also contains proline-rich regions that bind SH3. HSH2 has been shown to interact with two nonreceptor tyrosine kinases, fest and CDC42-associated tyrosine kinase, ACK1, which phosphorylate HSH2.
