This monoclonal antibody (Moretta et al, 1989, 1990) recognizes an antigen on the cell surface of a subset of NK-cells and has been obtained by immunizing BALB/c mice with the (CD7(+) CD2(+) CD3(-) CD16(+) CD56(+) E57 clone derived from human peripheral blood NK-cells (Moretta et al, 1990). In human peripheral blood, GL183-reactive cells ranged between 2 and 12 % (mean 6.5 %) in 10 different donors.
