[flower] This Drosophila melanogaster protein is encoded by gene CG6151 and has been identified originally as a transmembrane protein associated with synaptic vesicles (Yao et al, 2009). The protein multimerizes, is able to form a channel to control Ca(2+) influx and may function as a Ca(2+) channel that regulates synaptic exocytosis with endocytosis. Loss of this protein results in impaired intracellular resting Ca(2+) levels and impaired endocytosis.
