Epimorphin

abbr, EPM, Epim. This protein of 150 kDa (289 amino acids) is expressed on the surface of mesenchymal cells of mouse embryonic tissues. Epimorphin sequences are highly conserved among species and this protein has some isoforms including a putative soluble type (Hirai, 1993; Zha et al, 1996). The protein is identical to HPC-1 antigen, a neuron-specific protein antigen from the rat brain, which is thought to play a role in neurotransmitter release from nerve terminals by associating with omega-CgTX-sensitive N-type calcium channel and synaptotagmin (Yoshida et al, 1992). It is also the same as rat Syntaxin-2 (p35A) (Inoue and Akagawa, 1992). The approved gene symbol is STX2 ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
