[ecotropic viral integration site 2B] The EVI2B gene has been identified by Cawthon et al (1991). It is located between translocation breakpoints of the responsible for neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and lies in the same intron as another gene, EVI2A (reported previously as the EV12 locus), which is the human homolog of a mouse gene, Evi-2A, implicated in retrovirus-induced murine myeloid tumors (Cawthon et al, 1991; Jenne et al, 2003). The mouse homolog of EVI2B, Evi-2b, has been shown to be associated with ecotropic viral insertions, which have been implicated in the expression of murine myeloid leukemias (Buchberg et al, 1988, 1990).
