(approved gene symbol) [embryonic stem cell-expressed Ras; ES cell-expressed Ras]. The gene is known also as HRAS2 [vHa-Ras Harvey rat sarcoma virus oncogene homolog 2; Ha-Ras homolog 2], which is considered the human ortholog of the mouse gene. Takahashi et al (2003) have reported that ERAS is identical with HRASP [Ha-Ras pseudogene], a Ha-ras homolog reported previously to be a processed pseudogene with several nonsense deletion mutations (Miyoshi et al, 1984), pointing out that resequencing demonstrates that the reported mutations do not exist.
