EGF family |
EGF-inducible protein 1 |
islet cell dysmaturation syndrome |
||
[EGF inhibitor] This factor of 34 kDa has been isolated from rabbit kidney cells infected with malignant rabbit fibroma virus (Strayer and Mathew, 1993).
EGFI reacts with an anti-EGF antibody and prevents binding of EGF to its receptor. EGFI inhibits the effects of EGF on certain target cell lines. It also inhibits proliferation of EGF receptor-bearing A431 cells in vitro. EGFI decreases EGF induced phosphorylation of cellular proteins. The partial protein sequence of two fragments of EGFI shows striking similarity to two ras-like proteins.
