ECGF-beta
[Endothelial cell growth factor-beta] This factor is a variant of aFGF (Burgess et al, 1986; Mergia et al, 1986).
Acidic fibroblast growth factor (see: aFGF) is derived from ECGF-beta by posttranslational processing.
Another factor, ECGF-alpha, is derived also from ECGF-beta in the same manner. ECGF-beta represents a 20 amino acid aminoterminal extension of ECGF-alpha and a 14 amino acid aminoterminal extension of aFGF.
