A group of peptides isolated from the sea hare Dolabella auricularia. Dolabellanin A (Yamazaki et al, 1989), Dolabellanin C (Kisugi et al, 1989), and Dolabellanin P (Yamazaki et al, 1989) are glycoproteins identified for their cytotoxic and cytolytic activities on various types of tumor and normal cells. Yamazaki et al (1989) have reported that Dolabellanin A prolongs the survival of mice bearing syngeneic MM46 ascitic tumors. Kisugi et al (1992) have shown that Dolabellanin A is bacteriostatic for Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria. This protein has fungicidal activities (Iijima et al, 1994).
