DFF

[DNA fragmentation factor] This heterodimeric protein (40 and 45 kDa subunits) has been identified in the cytosolic fraction of HeLa cells. The 45 kDa subunit (DFF-45 [DNA fragmentation factor 45 kDa; 45 kDa DNA fragmentation factor]) is cleaved by Caspase-3 into two fragments that dissociate from the 40 kDa subunit. Murine ICAD [inhibitor of caspase-activated DNAse] and the 45 kDa subunit are considered homologous (Tang and Kidd, 1998). The 45 kDa functional isoform is being referred to as ICAD-L.
