A water-insoluble cyclic oligopeptide with a molecular mass of 1202.63. isolated from the fungus imperfectus Tolypochladium inflatum Gams. The compound contains some unusual components such as L-alpha-Aminobutyric acid, D-alanine, and the C9-amino acid 3-Hydroxyl-4-Methyl-2-methylamino-6-octenic acid. Several amino acids are N-methylated.

Many structurally related metabolites of the original isolate Cyclosporin A (cyclosporins B-Z) showing identical or similar pharmacological activities have been described.
